LRC Boook Critic Review - A Fault in our Stars by John Green

The Fault In Our Stars

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green is an awesome yet heartbreaking book. The book is based around a 16 year old with thyroid cancer that has affected her lungs, called Hazel Grace Lancaster, meeting the love of her life.  She realizes that life is too short to love anyone properly.

The story starts off with Hazel being reluctant to go to her support group, which was supposed to make her feel better about having cancer. At the group she meets a boy called Augustus Waters. He had osteosarcoma, a bone cancer, which caused him to lose his right leg.

They start talking and find out a lot more about each other. They both have a passion for books. Hazel's favourite book is An imperial affliction.  The book reminds her a lot about herself. The main character has cancer. She always wondered why the book ended in the middle of a sentence. She had emailed the author many times but he had never responded.

Augustus had a go at contacting him and succeeded. He used his wish to take him and Hazel to Amsterdam where the author lives. The wish comes from an organisation which gives wishes to sick children. They travel to Peter Van Houten where they find that he is really a stubborn man.

From then onwards, Augustus tells something to hazel which changes everything

The ending is really sad as well. I really enjoyed this book and I hope that you love it as much as I did. This book is available from the LRC.
