Book Review - The Battle of Britain by Chris Barnsley

This book is about a young man called John who has joined the RAF to fight for Britain. Germany is coming to attack Britain so they prepare for War. The team fly around in their fighter planes to find the Germans and defeat them.  However, John crashes his plane and is alone on a cliff. A German’s plane gets shot down and the German lands on the same cliff. Some sailors come and save the two. The German is then shot and killed on the ship. I found this book very interesting. John narrated in detail what he was experiencing in the War. This book also caught my attention and was better than I expected. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure and history, war and planes. This book is also educational as it tells you some history of the War and what they had to do in the RAF to prepare for war. It also tells you about the fighter planes they flew. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars

Book Review - Secret Lies and My Sister Kate by Belinda Hollyer

Image
This book is very interesting as the Author gives as much detail as possible about the story and what happens to Minnie and her sister Kate. The book is about a girl who is writing in her journal about herself, her sister and her normal life. Although her parents have a lot of secrets which they keep from the two sisters, they will find out and they won’t be too happy. I recommend this book because it’s inspiring.   In my opinion, the author tells you that you should keep trying and do not let the past haunt you. I give this book 5 stars.

Book Review - Dumping Princes, The Calypso Chronicles by Tyne O'Connell

Image
Pulling Princes, The Calypso Chronicles is a book that is heart-warming, revenge thirsty and romantic. It tells a story of a girl who is dating a prince, but when she is dumped by text and causes an outrage and you could say thing get “a little” out of hand.  Calypso is a typical teenager who is focused on boys instead of studying, her fencing tournament and the band. What will happen to Calypso if she chooses boys over friendship? This is the 4th book of the series written by Tyne O’Connell and other books in the series include pulling princess, duelling princess and a royal match. I have only read 1 of the 4 books and due to the book, I have read so far, I will be reading the whole series.  This book includes a glossary at the back as some words used are old English and therefore, that is what makes the book easy to understand. In addition to this it uses modern day scenarios which really contrast nicely with the type of words in the text. The moral of this story

Book Review - Avalon High by Meg Cabot

Image
I would recommend this book because it is very intriguing and the more you read the more interesting it gets. I like this book because it is about reincarnations of people from poems. There is a lot of mystery and suspense in this book it also has a bit of romance in the book. It is definitely one of my favourite books. I think it would be better if there was a little bit more humour in it. I believe that this book engages lots of young readers as well. The author use lots of techniques that makes the book even better. I would love to read the second book of the series, if there is one. I believe that you would love this book as much as I did. The blurb makes you want to read this book and so does the front cover. I would rate this book 5 stars due to its excellence.

Book Review - The Heroes of Olympus - The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan

Image
I would rate this book four out of five because it has action, romance and comedy and the reason I like this book is because I love ancient Greece. I watched the movies then I fell in love with the book. The reason it is my favourite is because my favourite goddess is Athena and it is about her child Annabeth and her friends going on adventures and meeting new people along the way. It is also about going on adventures and going through dangerous obstacles along the way.

Book Review - S.C.R.E.A.M. The Mummy's Revenge by Andrew Beasley

Image
I am a big fan of the Scream Series as it changes every time and that really amazes me as it gives historic information and some humour.   It comes under the category of horror and I recommend it to a lot of people who like basic horror and jokes.   Now that’s the end of my opinion now let me tell you about the book. I feel that I should mention that one of the characters, Charlie, is in a wheelchair due to polio. I feel reluctant mentioning it because, while it is mentioned in the text, and obviously some of Charlie’s movements are restricted due to the chair, it really is not a big part of the plot and certainly does not define Charlie. I found this very positive and wish that every writer managed to include disabled characters with such subtlety and grace .   Another character is Billy Flint and he is a good friend of   Charlie.   They both make a good team as they take on each others ideas. Billy is really an open person and doesn’t forget anything that is important.   He

Book Review - Over the Line by Tom Palmer

Image
I really enjoyed this book as it was really interesting and gave a lot of facts about WW1 that you would not learn about through boring facts. This book was about a boy that loved playing football but protestors made him want to join the army.   Over a period of time he learns that there is another part of his country where people are fighting and killing whilst he is trying to accomplish his dream.    However people persuade him to join the army as his country needs him.   At first, he thought that he was going to be fine as his friends were by his side but then he learns that it is not that easy. He went from cleaning rifles and making food to actually being in a trench.  Tom goes through a roller coaster of emotions in the book. This book was different to me as I have never read a book like this before. I usually read mystery books written by Anthony Horrowitz.   I would definitely recommend this to someone as this book was really interesting and had a lot of facts

Book Review - The Graphic Novel Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz

Image
The book is a really good book. It’s about a boy called Alex Rider who wanted to know what happened to his uncle. Stormbreaker is a young adult action-adventure book written by British author Anthony Horowitz, and is the first novel in the Alex Rider series. You can get both the comic version and the novel. The age recommendation for this book is 9 to 12 yrs. About the author: Anthony Horowitz is a screenwriter and children's novelist. Born in 1955 in North London, he was educated at Rugby School and York University, and published his first book, Enter Frederick K Bower, in 1978. He created the television series Foyle's War, Murder in Mind, Midsomer Murders, Crime Traveller and Menace, and has written episodes for many more, including Agatha Christie's Poirot, Murder Most Horrid and Robin of Sherwood. He has also written a horror film, The Gathering, starring Christina Ricci. I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Book Review - Cherry Crush by Cathy Cassidy

Image
My book review is about the splendid book Cherry Crush.   It is by a fantastic author called Cathy Cassidy who has made a collection of books for boys and girls. Cherry crush is in the series along with other books like Marshmallow Sky and Summer Dream.   The series is called The Chocolate Box Girls. I enjoyed this book very much because it has drama and suspense along with mystery. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Book Review - Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J K Rowling

Image
I have read all of J.K Rowling’s books and I have watched the movies; by far this one is the best. There is so much intricate detail and she really emphasises on the whole point of the book! Harry Potter (the main character), is always a suspenseful part in the book. Whenever he gets hurt it always looks as if he will die. But he doesn’t! That is the most suspenseful part. There are 6 main characters in the book:  Harry Potter  Ron Weasley  Hermione Granger  Voldemort  Albus Dumbeldore  Hagrid These characters make the book so magical that you can never tell what would happen. Voldemort always seems like he would murder Harry one day. Of course we know that could never happen because of Harry’s scar but it’s frightful to see. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a mix of action/fantasy and a bit of horror.

Book Review - The Adventures in Sound with Max Axiom

Image
I have chosen this book because this book is really helpful and interesting for a non-fiction book. Some people might prefer this book as it will help them in their education. This book is about a person who really likes science and goes on different adventures to teach others about different topics. I really like this book. Throughout the book there were lots of different things to learn and to observe also it is lots of fun to read so I did not get bored. This book gave me knowledge and it encouraged me to learn and read. The author have made more and more books like this but on different topics. Book Review - The Explosive World of Volcanoes with Max Axiom

Image
This book is about volcanoes and the different types of dangerous coincidences that have happened, for example, in Pompeii. Another part from the book is that lava can melt glass.   It also shows different types of volcanoes.  I give it a five stars since I find science interesting.

Book Review - Exploring Ecosystems with Max Axiom

Image
I rate this a 5 star book because it teaches kids about ecosystems and how to protect it. It teaches all about organisms and it makes science more fun and it teaches about biomes and type of creatures live there. It teaches you about what creatures eat like seaweed is eaten by zooplankton and is eaten by herring is eaten by whale. It teaches about the oxygen cycle. There are 7 biomes Desert, Grassland, Deciduous forest, Coniferous forest, Rain forest, Ocean and Tundra. I recommend this book because it teaches kids about ecosystems.

Book Review - James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl

Image
I have chosen this book because it is very funny to read and you never want to stop reading it. This book is one of my favourite books and Roald Dahl is one of the best authors that was around in my opinion. This book is about a boy whose parents sadly die and he has to go live with his aunts, these aunts are very mean to James and in the back garden there is a peach tree. Later on in the book a man comes along and gives magic beans to James and James spills the beans on the peach tree. Throughout the book the peach grows bigger and bigger. James goes inside the peach and there are insects in the peach, even the insects have grown bigger. The government then take the peach by a helicopter but it falls on a building and James is on the peach. I would read this book on and on because it is very fun and if you stopped reading this book for whatever reason you would want to know what happens at the end of the book. Roald Dahl spent hours and hours in his little shack just to
