Waves is by far one of the best books that I have read in my entire life. The way the story is written makes you want to read non-stop until the end . You can't put it down! My favourite bit is when Sarz find a really small flatfish and names it flounder. I found it so cute! One thing that I disliked was the changes between the past and present. It was kind of hard to know who was speaking and what they were doing.

The story starts off by describing Charley. The way her her golden ginger locks twirled in the sun light and how her eyes changed to the colour of what she was wearing. Hal has this ability too.

Charley is Hal’s sister who got put into a coma after falling into the sea and banging her head against some rocks. Even though she isn’t moving, Hal has a really weird connection with her. They are able to share each others memories. Charley is trying to say something but Hal can't make out what it is she wants.

After making a hard decision to leave their comatose daughter and beloved sister behind in hospital, Hal’s family moved back to their house in the woods by the sea.

This time around, Hal meets a girl called Jack who later turns out to be Charley Boyfriend’s(Pete) sister. They become really good friends despite not talking about the one sore topic: Jacks Brother, Pete. Charley in Hal’s head wants to know more and more about Am and Pete, a girl Pete had dated recently before dumping her for Charley. Charley urges Hal’s body to go to the house of the invisible hanging flower, where her and Pete had hung out many times before.

Throughout the story, Charley’s voice haunts Hal’s head. These are really memories that Charley is getting Hal to remember for her so they know how she got put into the coma

During the story, it switches between the present and the past. The past being memories that happened before the accident. And the present being either Hal’s experiences or Charley trying to figure out what is going on in the hospital ward.

I don't want to spoil it but the ending is sad yet confusing. They figured out something they never knew before. Even I had to re-read it.
