It’s the start of a new year, 2018! A new beginning for some, and dramatic changes for others. It also means that there will be hundreds of new books released! In this article we’ll take a sneak peek at some of the fantastic new stories that authors are working on this year:

1.      Oliver Loving by Stefan Merrill Block:
The main character, Oliver Loving has been paralyzed and locked in his own mind for almost ten years, Because of a shooting that took place in his small town in Texas. In this psychologically astute novel, the damaged people that surround Oliver are attempting to make sense of what happened that night and since then. All the while, doctors prepare a new treatment that might help Oliver communicate again.

2.      How to stop time by Matt Haig:
How to Stop Time is the story of a man with a rare condition: he ages extremely slowly. Even though Tom looks like a normal middle-aged man, he’s been alive for centuries. This book includes many fun special guests who appear throughout history and the magical novel asks the philosophical question: What makes a life—particularly a very, very long life—worth living?

3.      Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer:
In Meg Wolitzer's new novel, The Female Persuasion, college freshman Greer Kadetsky's life is pulled in an entirely new and crazy direction after meeting the feminist icon Faith Frank. This book is an incredibly entertaining exploration of female friendship and mentorship, feminism, ambition, and power.

4.      Hellbent by Gregg Hurwitz
Taken from his group home at only twelve, Evan Smoak was raised and trained as an off-the-books government assassin known as Orphan X. After the Orphan Program had failed, Evan disappeared and reinvented himself as the Nowhere Man, a man spoken about only in whispers and dedicated to helping the truly desperate. 5.      The friend by Sigrid Nunez
After a woman's best friend and mentor kills himself, she is left with his Great Dane, who she becomes increasingly devoted to as her grief builds. This novel is an elegant, moving, thoughtful meditation on grief, friendship, healing, and the bonds between humans and dogs.
And those are just five of the amazing new novels that are coming out this year, so get your reading list ready, there’s a lot to read!!
