Usually when reading a good
book, you wouldn’t pay much attention to the author apart from seeing what else
they’ve written. In this article we will take a look at the life of some of the
most famous authors, going as far back as their childhood.
First, we’ll look at John Green, he is most famous for
his book “The Fault in Our Stars” he has also written many other amazing
teen fiction novels such as “Paper Towns”
and “Looking for Alaska”.
So, let’s take a look at his early life, John Michael Green
was born on August 24th 1977 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Three weeks
after he was born, his family moved to Michigan, then Birmingham, Alabama, and
finally to Orlando, Florida. One of the schools he attended was Indian Springs
school which he used as the inspiration for the setting of his first book
Looking for Alaska
Green
graduated from Kenyon College in 2000 with a double major in English and
Religious studies. John said that he was bullied during his teenage years and
spoke about how it ‘made his teenage life miserable’. After graduating from college, he spent five months working as a
student chaplain at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He
intended to become an Episcopal priest, but his experiences of working in a
hospital with children suffering from life-threatening illnesses inspired him
to become an author, and to write The Fault in Our Stars.
Now
let’s take a look at another famous author, Stephanie Meyer. She has written
numerous young adult books such as “The
Twilight series” and “New Moon”.
Meyer was born on December 24th 1973 in Hartford, Connecticut
however she was raised in Phoenix, Arizona, with five siblings.
Meyer attended Chaparral High School in Scottsdale. She attended Brigham Young
University in Provo, Utah, where she received a BA in English in 1997. Meyer
first met her husband, Christian, when she was 4 years old, and married him in 1994
when they were both 20. Together they have three sons.
Meyer
has stated that she is strait-laced about her beliefs and does not drink
alcohol or smoke. Before writing Twilight, she had no writing experience and
had never even written a short story before. She said that she had considered
going to law school because she felt she had no chance of becoming a writer.
