The Library Scary Story Winner - The Blood Thirsty Stallion by Katie

The Blood-thirsty Stallion

The wind is blowing the trees in the gloomy, dark night. Thunder is booming and lightning is flashing. The people from the town of Hudson have locked themselves inside their homes. They slammed the windows shut and drew their curtains. The people knew it was coming. The blood-thirsty stallion. A monstrous beast. This horse wasn't just any stallion. It was black and colossal. It only lurked the streets of Hudson once every full moon during a dark eerie night.

The people could tell which day he would come. A storm would be on its way and an innocent life would be lost. Sadly, this time, it was a child’s life that was taken. She had so much to live for. The poor 12 year old’s parents were devastated to hear the news. All of their neighbours wanted to support them but they were too scared in case the horse wandered by. If this black stallion looked you deep in the eye, it could turn you into stone and you would blow away as ash.

Even though that poor family was grieving over a lost one, they still needed to be careful not to draw the beast to them. The horse can sense the cries of grieving ones and will gallop towards the first sign of and tears being shared. They tried to hide their tears. The people decided to snuggle up together and keep close. The beast will only hunt the people he can sense that are afraid or upset.

As thunder roared, the black stallion galloped across the fields. He travelled through the night spooking the people around. He must have turned at least 4 dozen people into stone already. Once the wind started to blow, so did the people, their ashes blowing in the darkness. Suddenly, a cart pulled up in front of the horse unknowingly. It scared the monster, making him rear ( lifting up his front legs). The driver of the cart quickly drove off into the darkness once he realised he had just seen the black stallion. The driver couldn’t believe he had just made it out alive.

The stallion finally got his focus back and was on all four hooves. He continued moving onwards and upwards along a hill. Once at the top, the horse could see the beautiful village of Hudson. Although, all the lights were out because the people didn’t want him to see the village. However, the stallion had been to that village so many times, he could tell where it was as clear as day. All of a sudden the beast ran off into the night towards the village hoping to turn more people into stone.

The blood-thirsty stallion got closer and closer towards the village. The closer he got, the more he could sense fear and tears. The grieving family couldn’t help but cry and that brought the beast closer. This made the citizens very afraid which would bring the stallion even closer. There was nothing the people could do. It was over. The beast would come and kill them all.

He was here! The blood-thirsty stallion had come to Hudson once again. He cautiously walked through the streets trying not to let anyone see him just yet. He was so smart that he set up multiple traps to capture the people so he could turn them to stone one by one.

Trap 1: The net

The horse set up an invisible net that no one could see. Especially in the dark. If someone were to step on it, it would send off a trigger, pulling up the net and catching anyone inside

Trap 2: The wheelbarrow

The wheelbarrow would be in the center of town. Of course, it was so dark that no one could see it. They would trip over when they run away. If the horse is lucky enough it will cause a cage to form around the wheelbarrow with people inside so they will be held for the horse to get them.

Trap 3: The big one

The stallion's third and final trap is…

Fireworks. The mesmerizing fireworks would catch the people's attention. So much they will become hypnotized and the horse can turn them into stone.

The beast’s plan was going perfectly. All he had to do was wait for someone to come out.

The stallion stood noiselessly in the blackness of the night waiting and waiting. Then, he heard a noise. There was a small group of people who seemed out of the ordinary. One ran towards the wheelbarrow and tripped. Another ran towards him to see if he was ok. Suddenly, the cage came up and they were locked inside. They were clearly drunk as all of them were laughing. The third man was walking towards the net trap. The trigger went off and he was trapped. The last two were still laughing thinking they wouldn’t get trapped. Little did they know, they were in for the biggest of the stallions' plans.

Here it comes. The big one. The citizens of Hudson were getting ready to defend themselves. They had sticks with blazing flames at the end and pitchforks as sharp as darts. They were finally willing to fight for each other and stop the stallion once and for all. The people ran into the town square. Ready to fight.

The stallion set off the fireworks which immediately got the people’s attention. They were soon caught up in the hypnotism.  The horse was beginning to think he had won. Then out of the blue, a villager grabbed a pitchfork and shoved it straight into the horse’s back. He reared and shrieked in pain. Scarlet red blood started to pour out and the stallion fell to the floor. The beast is dead! Yelled the killer.

But it wasn't over. It all happened so fast. Every person in the square exploded, their guts spewing everywhere. It was so disgusting. The guts of each person came together and created a stallion-shaped monster. It ran off into the wild collecting more guts to create a ginormous beast until it couldn’t anymore. Once it collected enough guts it burst and to this day people still find bits and pieces of it. And legend has it that if you touch a part of it you will explode just like those people did from the town in Hudson. So be aware. A gut could be lurking under your bed right now.
